BILL GUBBINS

COUNTRY WEEKLY

1. Can you introduce yourself in a few words?

My name is Bill Gubbins and I'm the Editor In Chief of Country Weekly. I live in Nashville, Tennessee and our offices are just on the edge of "Music Row."

2. Can you explain us what "Country Weekly is?

Country Weekly is a fan magazine for people who love country stars and the music they make. It features the latest music news and feature stories about country stars and country music trends.

3. What do you think about country music evolution?

I think it's a good thing. If it didn't evolve, the music would become stagnant. And that's something neither country music musicians nor fans want.

4. Which newcomers do you really appreciate?

I'm impressed with Robinella, Catherine Britt and Shannon Lawson.

5. Did you know that there's a lot of country music fans in France, but it's underground?

No!!! Tell me more.

6. Do you know if some Europeans--and especially French--read Country Weekly magazine?

No!! Tell me more.

7. Who are your favorite artists?

I like the Dixie Chicks, Tim McGraw, Sugarland, Brad Paisley and classic artists Tammy Wynette and Hank Williams Sr.

8. What are your top five albums you ever listen to?

Tammy Wynette box set, Hank Williams' Greatest Hits, Will The Circle Be Unbroken by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Fly by the Dixie Chicks, Wide Open Spaces by the Dixie Chicks

9. What are your top five albums of 2005?

Honkytonk University by Toby Keith, Hillbilly Deluxe by Brooks & Dunn, Twice the Speed of Life by Sugarland, Some Hearts by Carrie Underwood, Soul's Chapel by Marty Stuart

10. Relations between France and USA are sometimes "hard." What is your feeling about France, and how do you imagine country music in France? Did you know some French country music artists?

I think France is great--any culture that can produce Proust, Eugene Atget and Robert Bresson is a-ok with me. (I'm also prejudiced: my daughter's boyfriend is French.)

Yes, I CAN imagine French country music; Edith Piaf with a twang, yes?

I don't know any French country music artists: tell me about them!

11. Do you want to say something more?

Music is one language that's spoken everywhere so it doesn't surprise me that country has caught your attention. I wish our French country music lovers the very best--please let me know if there's ever anything Country Weekly can do for them.
